Govan Timeline – 1912
1912 Belfast shipbuilder Harland and Wolff buys three small shipyards in Govan and constructs giant new sheds and slipways on the site of Doomster Hill. Between 1862 and H+W’s closure in 1963 in excess of 600 vessels are built and launched from this area of Govan alone.
